WhatsApp, the popular messaging app, has unveiled a new feature that allows users to enhance the security of their conversations. With the latest update, WhatsApp now enables users to lock their chats with passwords, providing an added layer of privacy.
What is Chat Lock?
With WhatsApp’s new Chat Lock feature, you can protect particular chats with a password or fingerprint unlocks for better security. You can do this by safeguarding your most private talks without having to close the app completely.
Even though WhatsApp is renowned for its end-to-end encryption, someone who has access to your phone still has access to your messages. If you’re concerned about prying eyes, Chat Lock ought to make it simpler for you to give someone else your phone.
How it works?
Your protected messages will all be transferred to a password- or biometric-required secure folder. These chats do not display the sender’s name or the contents of their notifications. It functions similarly to Apple’s iCloud functionality for hidden photos.
It’s simple to lock a chat. Holding down the chat you wish to hide will offer you the option to lock it. You may scroll down the app’s inbox menu to see locked chats. The locked folder will then need to be unlocked using a password or your fingerprint, as was previously described.
Coming Soon: Additional Upgrades
However, WhatsApp is planning to improve its Chat Lock in the future, so it doesn’t end here. In the coming months, we’re going to introduce more Chat Lock settings, such as locking for accompanying gadgets and allowing you to choose a unique password for your chats that is separate from the one you use for your phone.
This new addition is set to offer peace of mind to millions of WhatsApp users worldwide. Moreover, they can now have better control over the confidentiality of their conversation.
