I am currently the CEO of Xpert Digital, where we specialize in transforming banks from traditional, branch-heavy models to agile, digital-first institutions. My career has been a blend of technical expertise and leadership development. I earned a degree in Computer Science from the University of Houston-Clear Lake and a diploma in Leadership Principles from Harvard Business School.
I began my career as a business analyst at a bank in the U.S., which laid the groundwork for my understanding of banking and financial systems. This experience was further enriched by working with various banks across the U.S. and the Middle East, where I sharpened my skills in both banking and digital solutions.
The pivotal moment in my career was joining Xpert Digital at its inception. I was deeply inspired by Hammad Rasool’s vision of revolutionizing the global banking industry through top-tier digital services. His ambition to guide banks through their digital transformation journey resonated with me, leading me to become a part of this exciting venture from the very start.
Since then, Xpert Digital has grown significantly, starting with just three people and expanding to a team of over 200. We now serve millions of customers across 22 countries and three continents, with a remarkable average year-over-year growth of 110%. We’re continually pushing the boundaries of digital banking and have ambitious plans for further global expansion this year.
How do you see technology changing our lives?
Technology is profoundly transforming our lives by enhancing convenience and efficiency across various domains. It has seamlessly integrated into our daily routines, from ordering food online to utilizing driverless cars. With each technological advancement, tasks that once required significant time and effort are now streamlined and accessible at our fingertips. For example, the rise of digital platforms and smart devices has made everyday activities like managing finances, shopping, and communication faster and more efficient.
In the banking industry, technology is driving significant changes by focusing on digital transformation. Banks are increasingly adopting digital solutions to improve customer experiences, such as mobile banking, online transactions, and automated services. This shift is not only enhancing customer convenience but also encouraging greater digital adoption. Similarly, in e-commerce, technology has revolutionized shopping habits. Many people now prefer online shopping over visiting physical stores, prompting e-commerce businesses to invest in their online platforms and enhance their digital presence.
In summary, technology is streamlining processes, expanding opportunities, and improving overall satisfaction. Its impact is evident across various sectors, including banking, retail, and other industries, where it is broadening market reach and facilitating a more connected, efficient, and customer-focused experience.
How are banks transforming?
Banks are undergoing a major transformation driven by changing customer demands. Traditionally, banking was heavily branch-based, with physical locations serving as the primary way to interact with customers. However, with the rise of digital technology and changing customer expectations, banks are shifting from a branch-heavy model to a digital-first approach. This transformation reflects a broader trend towards enhancing convenience and accessibility for customers.
The focus of banking services is now moving towards digital channels. Customers can now perform a wide range of activities online, such as mobile check deposits, contactless payments, and paperless billing. Digital onboarding processes further streamline the customer experience, reducing the need for physical paperwork and in-branch visits. This shift not only makes financial tasks more effortless but also aligns with the modern preference for instant and accessible services.
As banks embrace digital transformation, they are placing greater emphasis on improving customer experience through these digital solutions. Rather than investing heavily in state-of-the-art branches and large physical teams, banks are focusing on creating seamless and efficient digital interactions. This change reflects a move towards meeting contemporary customer needs and preferences, ultimately making banking more convenient and user-friendly.
