ISLAMABAD – Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, emphasized the urgent need for collective efforts to address online safety issues. She highlighted that children remain especially vulnerable to the growing threats in today’s digital age.
Digital Safety Demands United Action
During a meeting with Miranda Sissons, Global Human Rights Policy Lead at Meta, Shaza Fatima stressed the importance of joint initiatives to counter online dangers. “Online safety is a significant challenge. We must collaborate to combat these threats and protect the most vulnerable, especially our children,” she stated.
Government’s Commitment to Strengthening Cybersecurity
The discussion focused on enhancing digital safety and improving the digital ecosystem in Pakistan. Meta’s Public Policy Head in Pakistan, Dania Mukhtar, also participated in the meeting, along with Member IT Syed Junaid Imam and Member International Coordination Imad Memon. Shaza reiterated the government’s dedication to strengthening cybersecurity measures while ensuring that quality content is accessible on social media platforms.
