Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb met with Huawei Pakistan’s Chief Executive Officer Sun Xiaofei and his senior management team at the Finance Division on Thursday.
Xiaofei briefed the minister on Huawei’s various digital and ICT initiatives, highlighting the company’s significant contributions to Pakistan’s ICT industry over the past 25 years. He emphasized Pakistan’s potential to become an IT hub.
The delegation discussed Huawei’s Pakistan Global Service Centre (GSC), which serves partners in the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa. They proposed cooperation in areas such as tax digitalization, e-invoicing, revenue automation, and IT applications to enhance Pakistan’s digital ecosystem and drive sustainable economic growth.
The minister appreciated Huawei’s proposals and shared updates on the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) progress in digitizing the tax system. He emphasized the potential for quick wins by leveraging available data and welcomed Huawei’s interest in collaborating with the government to boost Pakistan’s digital economy.
Inviting further collaboration, the CEO of Huawei invited the minister to visit Huawei’s Shenzhen headquarters for discussions with Huawei’s executive leaders on finance and digital economy cooperation.
