ISLAMABAD: Huawei Pakistan has announced the appointment of Kanwal Cheema as the new Chief Executive Officer for its Financial Services Industry (FSI) division, marking a major step in strengthening the company’s position in Pakistan’s fast-expanding digital and financial technology ecosystem.

Cheema brings an extensive global technology background, having worked across multinational firms and social-impact ventures. She began her career at Cisco Systems in Amsterdam as a Systems Engineer and later advanced to senior roles across multiple regions. Her leadership journey eventually led her to the position of Global Account Director in Sydney, where she managed major international clients and strategic initiatives.

She later joined the founding team at Silicon Valley startup Graphiant, leading global partnerships and marketing during the company’s early growth phase.

Beyond her corporate achievements, Cheema is also the founder of My Impact Meter (MIM), Pakistan’s first digital charity marketplace. The platform enables transparent, trackable philanthropy by allowing NGOs to operate in a structured digital environment while enabling individuals to gift verified essential services—such as groceries, healthcare, and education—to beneficiaries authenticated through CNIC.

Industry experts note that Huawei remains a dominant force in Pakistan’s technology landscape, with strong capabilities in telecommunications, cloud, and enterprise solutions. Cheema’s appointment is expected to accelerate Huawei’s collaborations with financial institutions, digital service providers, and public-sector organizations.

With her blend of global tech expertise, social entrepreneurship, and strategic leadership, Kanwal Cheema is set to lead Huawei Pakistan’s FSI division toward deeper industry partnerships and expanded digital transformation initiatives across the country.
