Federal Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has announced that on the occasion of Pakistan’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, a partnership will be done with TikTok in order to inculcate patriotism in the youth.
A six-member delegation led by TikTok Regional Head of Asia Pacific met with the Federal Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb.
The Minister said the government firmly believes in the freedom of social media.
She further added this initiative will not allow the use of social media to spread chaos, fraud and immorality in society but rather spread positivity.
Marriyum said Pakistan’s constitution protects citizens’ rights and freedom of expression, adding that unauthorized use of any position cannot be allowed.
The Federal Minister for Information said that the public should be made aware of the use of TikTok, adding that the TikTok administration should give priority to the local language for awareness.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the TikTok administration should take effective measures, adding that is important to provide protection and awareness to the youth regarding making videos on TikTok.
The Federal Minister for Information said that the branch manager could also use the platform of the Information Services Academy managed by the Ministry of Information for awareness purposes, adding the Federal Minister for Information said that the partnership has aimed at inculcating patriotism in the youth.
The Chinese short-form video hosting service, TikTok, said that the application would play its best role in guiding the youth through a partnership with the government, adding that the application can also play an important role in promoting Pakistan’s culture and values.
The social media giant went on to say that it has never shared anti-state and defamatory material, adding that on the occasion of Pakistan’s National Day and PSL, millions of videos were made on the TikTok app to cultivate the national spirit.
TikTok management said this spirit will be maintained in the future as well, adding that the spirit of patriotism will be instilled in the youth regarding national days.
