Euronet Worldwide’s epay Division has recently announced its partnership with PayPal QR Code as their Point of Sale Solution. This solution has already been implemented in Germany and will be extended to other markets in the future as well. Moreover, the payment provider is also extending its services to other mobile payment methods and give retail partners the chance to access a huge customer base. These include over 29.1 million PayPal customers in Germany and more than 400 million around the globe!
For those retailers who are using epay’s checkout integration software, they can simply add PayPal’s QR code at their POS. The epay solution also reduces complex procedures at the point of sale.
Jörg Kablitz, Managing Director PayPal Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, said in a statement,
“We are more than happy to collaborate with epay in Germany enabling merchants to easily expand their point-of-sale solutions with our new PayPal QR Code. The expectation of customers to pay the way they prefer has increased – online and in person. Together with epay, we help merchants offering their customers a wider choice of payment options at the point of sale by integrating the contactless PayPal QR Code”
Stephan Heintz, Director DACH epay, also added,
“We have great faith in the success of QR code and barcode-based payment methods, as they are very convenient and secure for consumers. The PayPal partnership is an important step for us. It helps us expand our payment diversity and positions epay as an aggregator and concentrator of all payment types, as well as a provider of value-added services of today and tomorrow for retailers”
If customers are paying with PayPal they will need to open the QR code in their PayPal application and give it to the cashier to scan it. Once the cashier has scanned it the amount will be shown on the app and the customers can select their method of payment whether it’s through credit card or bank account. Once the transaction is complete, the customer and cashier will both receive a confirmation.
