Apple has informed millions of iPhone owners about a pop-up message that appears when water is found in the device’s charging port. Besides if the message is ignored, the Lightning port’s pins or the cable may corrode, causing long-term damage or connectivity issues.

A blue water drop and a yellow caution triangle appear inside two different types of notifications.

    • Charging issue:

The first point from the given text is that the iPhone displays a notification that says “Charging Not Available.” It means that the device is not able to charge properly. Furthermore this notification may be caused by a variety of factors. They include a damaged charging cable, faulty power adapter, or liquid damage.

    • Liquid detected in Lightning connector:

The second point is that the iPhone displays a second message. Indicating that liquid has been detected in the Lightning connector. And this notification suggests that there is water damage or other liquid-related issues. Moreover it could lead to further damage if not addressed promptly.

Tips to Dry Out the Phone

Apple has provided some advice on how to dry out your iPhone. Including carefully tapping it with the Lightning connector facing down to remove any more liquid. And putting it in a dry place with good airflow. And waiting for around 30 minutes before attempting to charge it once more.

If the message reappears, there is still liquid on the iPhone. Therefore, it is important to wait for at least a day before attempting to charge your iPhone or connect any Lightning accessory. This is because the notification signals that there is still liquid on the iPhone.

Apple advises against using compressed air or external heat sources to dry out the iPhone. And against putting unapproved things like cotton swabs or paper towels into the Lightning port.

Furthermore it is also advised against putting the iPhone in a bag of rice because doing so could damage the gadget.
