During the recent graduation event at Google‘s Apps Growth Lab, Google celebrated the graduation of 94 Pakistani game and app development studios from the second edition of its App Growth Lab program.
In a significant expansion beyond mobile game developers, this year’s initiative marked the inclusion of app developer studios and companies aiming to boost their growth in collaboration with Google.
The total number of participating studios reached 254 this year, a substantial increase from the 54 studios involved last year, highlighting the program’s enhanced influence on Pakistan’s app and gaming ecosystem.
Spanning from June to September 2023, the program consisted of two crucial phases: an educational segment succeeded by an extensive support phase.
Tailored training sessions were designed to cater to the distinct requirements of gaming and app developer clients, addressing their diverse needs across various stages of their business journeys.
During the program’s duration, studios actively engaged in exclusive learning experiences facilitated by Google experts in diverse domains such as Google Ads, AdMob, and Play. Through immersive educational workshops and mentorship sessions, participants gained valuable insights. Industry leaders and peers from around the world contributed their expertise, guiding studios in navigating the journey from app development to launching apps and scaling their app businesses to reach a global audience.

Farhan Qureshi, Google Regional Director for Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, while addressing the attendees, said:
- The rise of Pakistan’s app economy is a story of inspiration for the world. Apps developed in Pakistan were downloaded 4 billion times globally in 2022. Also, in 2022, 65 apps from Pakistani developers reached the top 10 charts in Gaming and Apps verticals on Play Store and App Store. Pakistani developers, who took the 27th position in terms of global downloads back in 2018, today form the 16th largest developer market by downloads, making Pakistan the fastest growing developer market in the world.
- Alumni of the Apps Growth Lab have the option to prolong their collaboration with Google through enrollment in the Google App Acceleration Program (GAAP).
- This allows them to persist in receiving assistance from specialized Google professionals. Numerous past GAAP participants have ascended to become priority Google partners.
