The Bank of Punjab (BOP), one of Pakistan’s fastest-growing digital banks, has teamed up with Surfin Meta Digital Technologies Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based fintech leader specializing in embedded finance, AI-driven credit scoring, and merchant payment systems. This newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) sets the stage for the two companies to jointly explore and evaluate advanced digital banking solutions tailored for Pakistan’s evolving financial landscape.
The agreement was formally signed in Islamabad by Mr. Li Jin of Surfin Meta and Mr. Nofel Daud, Chief Digital Officer at BOP. Also present at the ceremony was Mr. Zafar Masud, President & CEO of BOP, who emphasized the bank’s commitment to digital innovation and customer-centric growth.
Speaking at the event, Zafar Masud stated, “Our partnership with Surfin Meta marks a strategic step toward embedding future-ready technologies into BOP’s digital ecosystem. Their AI-powered capabilities in credit scoring, onboarding, and merchant services are a perfect fit for our goal of reaching underserved markets—particularly SMEs and young entrepreneurs across Punjab and beyond.”
Mr. Wu Yanan, Executive Chairman and CEO of Surfin Meta, added, “We are proud to collaborate with The Bank of Punjab, an institution clearly focused on financial inclusion. Our AI-based digital infrastructure is designed to improve customer experiences, streamline compliance, and speed up loan decisions—outcomes we’re eager to deliver during this evaluation phase.”
As part of the collaboration, both organizations will jointly assess a suite of cutting-edge services, including digital onboarding, AI-driven loan origination, and real-time data analytics. The evaluation process will also feature live demonstrations and potential pilot deployments of Surfin Meta’s technology platform.
This partnership reinforces BOP’s broader digital transformation agenda, which focuses on expanding access to inclusive financial services by embracing fintech collaborations and scalable innovations. Ultimately, the MoU lays a strong foundation for a long-term partnership aimed at reshaping the digital banking landscape in Pakistan.
