The largest telecom company in Pakistan, PTCL Group (PTCL & Ufone 4G), worked with ConnectHear, a nonprofit that empowers people with hearing loss, to arrange a sign language training session for employees from its Customer Service Center (Joint Shops) in the North region.

The seminar, which coincided with the International Day of Sign Languages. This seminar intended to encourage inclusivity and improve the accessibility of PTCL and Ufone 4G services for users who are hard of hearing.

The interactive training session was delivered by Ms. Azima Dhanjee, CEO and co-founder of ConnectHear. Furthermore, it included a number of exercises and real-world case studies. In order to familiarize the PTCL Group customer care professionals with the special requirements of Deaf consumers.

The workshop is a groundbreaking endeavor for Pakistan’s telecom sector. Moreover, it reflects the PTCL Group’s commitment to advocating for the inclusion of people with disabilities.

The PTCL Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policies have always placed an emphasis on inclusion, and by offering sign language instruction to its customer service agents, the Group reinforces its commitment to fostering a more welcoming atmosphere for all of its clients.

Amir Pasha, Group Director of Public Relations, Media, CSR, and Corporate Communications for PTCL and Ufone 4G, made a statement during the discussion. It included the following statement: “Inclusivity is a primary driver of socioeconomic change, as such, it is the core of PTCL Group’s CSR program. Regardless of a customer’s ability, we think they should all have equitable access to our services.”

He further said, “I have no doubt that the Deaf sensitivity training for our personnel who interact with customers would enhance that experience.”

“It is encouraging to see PTCL Group performing an essential part. Also actively engaging in Deaf education in Pakistan’s telecom industry,” stated Azima Dhanjee, CEO and co-founder of ConnectHear.

To encourage other companies to imitate our relationship and this project, which aims to create a more diverse, inclusive, and compassionate society across the nation.

Other public and commercial organizations wishing to promote diversity and inclusion among their ranks can use PTCL Group’s program as a model.
