    Genesis AI: Google’s Article-Writing Breakthrough

According to the New York Times, Google has begun testing a new kind of AI. It will produce stories for writers after only receiving a few facts. The search engine behemoth has shown this tool to organizations like the Washington Post, calling it a “journalists’ personal assistant” meant to free them up for other chores.

According to two executives quoted in the story, the tool appeared to underestimate the work necessary to produce accurate and expertly constructed news items. Others, on the other hand, saw it mainly as a support or aid for themselves.

Jenn Crider, a Google spokesperson, said on Genesis AI “Journalists may receive help from AI-enabled technologies with suggestions for headlines or alternative writing emphases. These tools are not meant to replace the critical role that journalists play in reporting. In writing, and fact-checking their articles, and they cannot.”

It is still unknown which department at Google is in charge of Genesis. Google’s existing “Help me write” feature in Gmail and Google Docs shares similarities with the capabilities found in Genesis AI. It also offers a contextually aware version in Messages via Magic Compose.

It is conceivable to picture a Language Learning Model trained exclusively on the writing style of a news organization’s archives. Recently, OpenAI and the Associated Press partnered to provide this access in order to “explore the potential uses of artificial intelligence (AI) in new items and services.”

But let’s keep in mind that AI-assisted tools can make mistakes. It can also provide inaccurate information and unreliable solutions. Perhaps it is yet too early to turn every thing up to the machines.

In conclusion, Google’s Genesis AI holds promise as an AI-powered tool to assist journalists with writing suggestions and headlines. However, it has garnered interest from media organizations. The concerns about its accuracy and potential limitations have also been raised.

Google emphasizes that Genesis AI is meant to support journalists, not replace them entirely. As AI technology continues to evolve, it remains essential for journalists to exercise caution. Also maintaining their critical role in fact-checking and delivering reliable news.
