Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) and Land Information Management System (LIMS) have officially announced their collaborative efforts in the realm of digitalizing agricultural services, marking a significant milestone in the journey towards empowering farmers with comprehensive and timely information pertaining to agriculture on their respective lands.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was ceremoniously signed between Mr. Tahir Yaqoob Bhatti, President/CEO of ZTBL, and Maj Gen Shahid Nazir, Director General Strategic Projects, at the headquarters of LIMS. This momentous occasion symbolizes a step forward in leveraging technology for the betterment of agriculture in Pakistan.
Through the utilization of LIMS’s cutting-edge Portal, ZTBL’s mobile credit officers (MCOs), along with customers and farmers, will gain access to a plethora of invaluable services.These services encompass climate change data, satellite-based crop monitoring, detailed information on water irrigation, fertilizer recommendations, insights into areas requiring targeted spraying, direct market access, and comprehensive assessments of land and soil conditions spanning over ten years.
This landmark MoU signifies a pioneering initiative within the country, aimed at bolstering the capabilities of growers, particularly subsistence farmers, by facilitating their transition towards modern and scientific farming practices. Envisioned practices aim not only to enhance agricultural productivity but also to significantly contribute to Pakistan’s overall economic landscape.
During the signing ceremony, Mr. Tahir Yaqoob Bhatti, in his capacity as President/CEO of ZTBL, articulated the pivotal role of agriculture in Pakistan’s socio-economic fabric. He emphasized the imperative of equipping farmers with state-of-the-art agricultural technologies to unlock their full potential in terms of productivity and their contributions to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the nation.
Furthermore, Mr. Bhatti lauded the introduction of LIMS’s digital platform, recognizing its transformative potential in revolutionizing traditional agricultural practices and aligning them with contemporary, science-driven methodologies.
Echoing similar sentiments, Maj Gen Shahid Nazir, in his capacity as Director General Strategic Projects, expressed his optimism regarding the collaborative venture between ZTBL and LIMS.
