In order to stand out against other apps, WhatsApp has been stepping up its game. It recently added the ability to edit messages after they were sent. And now users will be able to share their screens during calls. This new feature is similar to Google Meet and other apps like Zoom.
The screen-sharing feature was introduced in the most recent update, version 2.23.11.19. As noticed by several beta testers and first noticed by WABetaInfo. A new option in the call menu enables users to share their screen with chat partners. WhatsApp warns users that the app will have access to the content. Which will be displayed on the screen before enabling the function.
Users can share anything on the screen once they confirm the rules and start screen sharing. It is essential to keep in mind that this function might not work with previous versions of the application. And that there might be limitations on how many people can view the screen sharing.
The bottom navigation bar has also undergone a slight alteration that has caused several tabs to change positions. Even if no tabs have been eliminated, people used to a specific UI layout that unexpectedly changed may find it confusing even though no tabs have been removed.
Remember that these modifications are still in WhatsApp’s beta version and won’t be applied to the app’s stable version for some time. But at least we know the functionality is being developed and will be released soon.
