Tell us about yourself, how did you reach there?

My journey has been a blend of passion, perseverance, and the belief that technology has the power to transform lives. It all started with a deep curiosity about how things work and a drive to make things better. I always knew that I wanted to do something meaningful, something that would leave a positive impact on the world—and for me, technology became the way to do that.

Growing up, I was fascinated by how quickly the world was changing through innovation. I dove into computer science and never looked back, eager to understand how we could use technology to solve real-world problems. As I advanced in my career, I realized that while technology is powerful, it’s the people behind it—their creativity, their resilience, their shared vision—that truly make the difference.

My career has taken me across industries and continents, working with diverse teams, solving complex challenges, and always learning something new. Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to lead initiatives that have not only transformed businesses but also empowered people—helping them adapt, grow, and succeed in a rapidly changing digital landscape.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that success is not just measured by achievements—it’s about how you lift others up along the way. And that’s how I got here—by staying true to my values, by believing in the power of people, and by never losing sight of the bigger picture.

How can we become a digital country?

The most important element of becoming a digital country is a mindset shift. We need to embrace change, see technology as a tool for progress, and foster a culture of innovation and problem-solving. This means encouraging continuous learning and adaptability in every sector—whether it’s agriculture, education, healthcare, or manufacturing. It means seeing technology not as a challenge but as a pathway to solutions that improve lives.

We must start by connecting every corner of Pakistan—urban, rural, and remote.

Turn the youth into creators and leaders in technology by promoting coding, digital literacy, and entrepreneurship from an early age.

By embracing e-governance, we can create a more inclusive, responsive, and accountable nation.

Supporting startups, the government and private sector should provide platforms, funding, and mentorship, allowing them to take risks, solve real-world problems, and create jobs.

Building trust in technology is crucial for mass adoption. By implementing strong cybersecurity measures and prioritizing data privacy, we can safeguard both individuals and organizations, creating a safe digital environment for everyone to thrive.

Make a massive impact by embracing digital financial solutions, especially for the unbanked. Digital wallets, mobile banking, and fintech innovations can bring millions of Pakistanis into the financial fold, empowering small businesses and individuals alike.

In essence, Pakistan’s digital future is not just a possibility—it’s a promise we must fulfill.

Tell me about an accomplishment that you consider to be the most significant in your career?

One of the most significant accomplishments in my career was the foundational role I played in establishing a world-class, leading liberal arts and sciences undergraduate institution in Karachi, Habib University, from the ground up. This wasn’t just a technical or infrastructural endeavor; it was a mission to create a beacon of higher education, research, and innovation in Pakistan that would inspire generations to come.

From the very start, this project was more than just about building physical infrastructure; it was about envisioning the future of education, crafting the technology strategy, and ensuring that every element supported the university’s overarching vision of academic excellence. As part of the senior management team, I had the responsibility to design and implement the institution’s technology strategy and an agile roadmap to support long-term innovation.

One of my proudest moments was the successful acquisition, architecture, and integration of an IT infrastructure that would not only serve the immediate needs of students, faculty, and staff but would also evolve with the institution as it grew. The scale was enormous—but the challenge was equally exciting.

I developed a technology ecosystem that spanned everything from ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, Microsoft) to e-learning platforms, digital classrooms, and cutting-edge cybersecurity units. Each system was interconnected, creating an environment where data-driven decisions could thrive. I didn’t stop at just building these systems; I continually improved them, ensuring they aligned with the university’s goals and the fast-changing technological landscape.

I led the implementation of a tier-1 campus management system and learning technologies, enabling academic operations to run seamlessly and efficiently. This, combined with automating financial processes and successfully implementing a human capital management solution, created an institution that was not only high-tech but also smart in how it managed its resources and people.

A standout achievement was acquiring ISO 27001 certification, enhancing our cybersecurity infrastructure, and ensuring we met rigorous compliance standards. This milestone was not just about checking boxes but about building trust and security into the foundation of our digital operations, something vital for the institution’s growth and global reputation.

What truly made this project special was the human element. Throughout the process, I had the privilege of hiring and building a team of diverse and talented IT professionals. Together, we fostered a culture of innovation and collaboration, ensuring that the university was not just a center of learning but also a hub for technological advancement and digital transformation.

This accomplishment is close to my heart because it reflects the power of vision, teamwork, and perseverance. It wasn’t just about achieving a goal; it was about shaping an institution that will influence thousands of lives and help propel Pakistan into a new era of education and innovation. That, to me, is the true significance of this project—it wasn’t just about the technology but about building a legacy.
