He praised Visa’s upcoming launch of the Financial Inclusion Card with Meezan Bank, which will improve access to financial services in Pakistan. Both leaders emphasized the importance of expanding transaction routing choices and establishing a fair playing field for domestic processing.
Deepening Pakistan-China Economic Ties: Insights from a Meeting with China’s Vice Minister of Finance
In a strategic discussion with China’s Vice Minister of Finance, Liao Min, Minister Aurangzeb reaffirmed Pakistan and China’s “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.” He acknowledged China’s steadfast support for Pakistan’s socio-economic development, including recent IMF-backed initiatives. Topics included upcoming Chinese economic reforms, BYD electric vehicles entering Pakistan, and the anticipated launch of a Panda bond to diversify Pakistan’s funding. Meeting with AIIB President on Financing and Climate Preparedness
In talks with Jin Liqun, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Minister Aurangzeb expressed gratitude for AIIB’s support in Pakistan’s post-flood recovery efforts. They discussed Pakistan’s plans to issue a Panda bond, with AIIB’s partial credit guarantee to enhance investor confidence.
