TweetDeck Turmoil: Twitter’s Rate-Limiting Fiasco Sparks Chaos

Twitter’s concentration on power users After TweetDeck owner Elon Musk placed restricts on the quantity of tweets users may view per day, the interface is having serious problems. Numerous users around the platform have reported seeing an empty dashboard instead of the usual array of tweets. Users have reported several UI issues, including updates, mentions, likes, and lists that won’t load.

Problems with TweetDeck are expected to cause problems for professional and powerful users of Twitter. Who depend on the service to develop their brands, market their products and services. Andin the particular circumstances of many newsrooms — as a reporting tool. Users have been experiencing troubles with Twitter during the weekend.

The problems are believed to be connected to Elon Musk’s July 1st announcement of new viewing restrictions on tweets. According to Musk, the limitations were necessary to ” deal with the excessive amount in information scraping [and] system manipulation” on the platform. He labelled them “temporary.”

Later, Musk indicated that these restrictions would be raised to ten thousand tweets for authenticated subscribers and 1,000–500 tweets for all other users. As of Monday morning, Twitter’s primary website and applications appear to be operational aside from TweetDeck.

A day after Twitter began preventing unregistered users from accessing tweets for related reasons, the limits were made public. Musk justified the change by claiming that “a few hundred organisations (possibly more) were aggressively scraping Twitter data. To a level where it had an effect on the actual user experience.” Musk is probably talking to AI firms when he says that they use Twitter scraping to train sophisticated language models.

Although Musk describes the restrictions as a planned strategy. This is just the most recent instance of how the platform’s dependability has declined recently. The issue is thought to have arisen as a result of a “bad configuration change” made by the lone programmer. This was done to trying to stop open access to the Twitter API, which “basically broke the Twitter API.”

Additionally, according to Bloomberg, the social media platform ceased using Google Cloud for its hosting services a month ago until Twitter’s new CEO Linda Yaccarino repaired the connection.

When approached for comment, Twitter’s press line automatically responded with emoji, as it has been doing ever since Elon Musk assumed control of the business and dismantled its communications division.
