The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) program was first initiated under the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan in 2020. This year, President Arif Alvi has launched the STEM program specifically for metric and intermediate students. Initially, the program will be introduced in 50 public schools for students who are in classes 9 to 12. Once it kicks off, the program will be launched in other public schools and colleges all over the country.

The STEM program comprises three sections which include teacher’s training, laboratories, and STEM modules. The teachers are required to undergo proper training so that they can successfully impart knowledge to the students. Moreover, the laboratories will be especially built to help those students who are part of the STEM program. Students who take part in the STEM program will be admitted only on merit basis to improve their current subject scores.
President Arif Alvi stated on the launch of the event that the STEM subjects are known for all over the world. This launch will be able to help Pakistanis set their mark in the world globally. It could be a real ‘game changer’ for the students struggling in the government sector.
