In a recent development, the Secretary of the Board of Investment (BoI), Fareena Mazhar, shared her thoughts in a seminar held at the Pakistan Pavilion at the Dubai Expo 2020. She apprised foreign investors that Pakistan’s IT sector has progressed massively in the past few years. She also added that according to experts’ predictions the IT sector will redouble to $7 billion in the next two to four years.
The seminar was attended by Pakistani expatriates and foreign investors who were keen to hear about the current investment scenario in Pakistan. She also discussed Pakistan’s IT-led services sector and the money that goes through it, she explained the government had made the technology-led income tax-free until 2025, this explains Pakistan’s and business-friendly atmosphere which can be compared to other countries going through IT transformations.
“Pakistan’s IT market is full of qualified people who are equipped to cater to the needs of the market at relatively low costs”, she added.
Fareena Mazhar also spoke about the economic era and how the focus is rapidly growing towards online marketplaces and e-commerce. Se further spoke about the freelancing industry which is another aspect of the growing digital environment in Pakistan. She reassured investors that the Government of Pakistan is committed to preserving and encouraging foreign investments and that the Board of Investment will assist them in completing their investments.
