    Pakistan and Qatar to Increase Cooperation in Energy Sector

    On Wednesday, Pakistan and Qatar decided to expand their energy-related cooperation as well as encourage and facilitate Qatari investment in Pakistan’s renewable energy, tourism, and hospitality industries.

    At the Diwan-e-Amiri in Doha, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had a meeting with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar.

    The two sides also agreed to encourage and facilitate Qatar’s investments in Pakistan’s renewable energy, tourism, and hospitality sectors, and increase opportunities for Pakistanis interested in working in Qatar. Expanding cooperation in the areas of defense, aviation, and maritime. The two sides also agreed to strengthen institutional engagement to increase bilateral trade, deepen cooperation in the agriculture and food sectors, and boost energy cooperation.

    The prime minister thanked the Amir for Qatar’s crucial assistance in addressing Pakistan’s energy demands. While mentioning Pakistan’s long-standing engagement with Qatar in the area of LNG cooperation. Additionally, the two parties looked at fresh opportunities for mutually advantageous cooperation in the energy industry.

    The two leaders discussed a wide range of bilateral, regional, and global topics during their in-depth discussions. They resolved to work together to further develop bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. As they expressed satisfaction with the upswing in Pakistan-Qatar relations.

    The prime minister was earlier received by the Amir in a formal ceremony upon arrival at the Diwan-e-Amiri and given a Guard of Honour. After that, the two presidents held discussions with the delegation.

    The two leaders discussed a wide range of bilateral, regional, and global topics during their in-depth discussions. They resolved to work together to further develop bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. As they expressed satisfaction with the upswing in Pakistan-Qatar relations.

    The Amir informed the prime minister that Qatar was dedicated to developing a more robust economic alliance with Pakistan. The prime minister expressed gratitude to the emir for the Qatar Investment Authority’s (QIA) willingness to spend $3 billion in Pakistan’s business and investment sectors.

    High-ranking members of the delegation, including Cabinet Ministers, accompanied the prime minister.
