NIC Karachi has rolled out its first structured acceleration program in collaboration with Orbit Startups, a Singapore-based investor focused on emerging markets. The initiative is designed to fast-track 10 high-potential startups by offering up to Rs. 5 million in milestone-based grants and access to global training and mentorship.
Global Support to Empower Local Founders
According to Orbit Startups’ Managing General Partner, William Bao Bean, Pakistan holds immense, untapped potential. “With its young, digital-first population, the country is undergoing a technology-led economic shift,” he noted. “We’re thrilled to bring Orbit’s global ecosystem and hands-on support to the next generation of Pakistani founders ready to compete on a global stage.”
The program represents a significant evolution for NIC Karachi—from a launchpad for early-stage startups to a dynamic accelerator aligned with national economic goals and global innovation trends.
Focus on Scale-Ready Startups Across Key Sectors
Ali Sohail Tabba, Chairperson of NIC Karachi’s Governance Committee and Director at Yunus Brothers Group, emphasized that this initiative targets startups with proven market traction, revenue models, and viable products. Startups from sectors such as fintech, cyber security, industrial automation, agritech, climate tech, and logistics are encouraged to apply.
Participants will be evaluated using a milestone-based framework that ensures all grant disbursements are tied to verified progress in business development, product performance, and investor readiness.
Earlier this month, NIC Karachi hosted the Pakistan Investor Summit 2025 – Summer Edition, where it announced two landmark initiatives: the Pakistan Startup Fund and BridgeStart, both designed to give startups the tools and exposure needed to scale internationally. These steps mark a significant effort to institutionalize the startup investment landscape in Pakistan.
