Muhammad Zohaib Khan, former Chairman of the Pakistan IT Industry Association (P@SHA), has been honored as the Pride of Pakistan for his remarkable contributions to the country’s IT industry. The recognition was announced during the 78th Independence Day celebrations at Jinnah Stadium, Islamabad.
Khan stood out as the only P@SHA chairman and among the few IT industry leaders to receive this prestigious honor. With over 20 years of experience in the sector, he has represented Pakistan on numerous global platforms, earning widespread recognition for his dedication and service.
During his chairmanship, Pakistan’s IT exports reached a historic high of over $3.2 billion in FY24. Under his leadership, the country successfully hosted the APICTA Awards for the first time in 2023—a landmark achievement for regional economies. He also drove key initiatives, including IT export awards, tax incentives at both federal and provincial levels, allowing 50% foreign exchange retention in bank accounts, and launching Tech Destination Pakistan in collaboration with policymakers and a private bank. His efforts further revitalized the P@SHA secretariat and strengthened its research and development capabilities.
Khan played a pivotal role in helping Pakistani IT companies expand into international markets, including the GCC and Europe. Currently, he is actively engaged with the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to push Pakistan’s IT exports toward a $10 billion target in the coming years, while continuing to serve as the brand ambassador for Tech Destination Pakistan since its inception.
Speaking on the occasion, Khan expressed his gratitude to the nation and the IT industry, emphasizing the sector’s transformative potential across governance, healthcare, education, agriculture, and banking.
The Marka-e-Haq celebration was attended by Prime Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Field Marshal General Asim Munir, armed forces chiefs, diplomats, and other dignitaries, where several distinguished individuals were recognized for their contributions to various fields.
