In a move to enhance sustainability and reduce carbon emissions, Mondelez Pakistan has partnered with Shams Power to solarize its confectionary and powdered beverages plants. This collaboration will bring the total installed solar capacity to around 2.2 MW across both sites.

Shams Power will take the reins on installing the solar equipment. They’ll also manage the operation and maintenance of the systems throughout the agreement. Upon completion of the term, the equipment will be transferred to Mondelez Pakistan.

Expected Impact: Clean Energy and Reduced Emissions

This project is expected to generate a significant impact. The project will inject approximately 3.3 million units of clean energy into Mondelez’s electricity mix annually. Furthermore, this translates to offsetting around 1,500 tons of carbon emissions each year, a reduction equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of roughly 1,000 households!

Mondelez Pakistan: Committed to a Happier, Healthier Planet

“ESG and environmental initiatives are at the forefront of our priorities,” stated Sami Wahid, Managing Director of Mondelez Pakistan. “We take pride in the fact that happiness is at the core of all our products, and we want to extend that spirit to all our operations.” Simultaneously, he emphasized their commitment to a sustainable future: “We stand strong with a vision for a happier, healthier planet and will ensure we take all necessary steps towards building a progressive community within and around Mondelez.”

Shams Power: Elated to Partner with a Sustainability Leader

Omar Malik, CEO of Shams Power, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership. “We’re excited to extend our collaboration with Mondelez Pakistan,” he said, “and are thankful to their leadership and management team for their vision and commitment towards green energy.” He highlighted the positive environmental impact: “This partnership contributes in a positive way to mitigating climate change.” Furthermore, Malik also expressed his hope for future collaboration: “We look forward to expanding this relationship and exploring additional sustainability initiatives together.”

    Mondelez’s Commitment to Sustainability

Additionally, by partnering with Shams Power, Mondelez Pakistan aims to further reduce its carbon footprint, lower energy costs, and promote sustainability across its operations. Moreover, this shift towards renewable energy sources aligns with global efforts to combat climate change. Thus reflecting Mondelez’s dedication to corporate social responsibility and sustainable business practices.
