In Peshawar, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) and USAID’s Economic Recovery and Development Activity (USAID-ERDA) jointly conducted a training and registration session for women entrepreneurs from the province. Hosted at a local hotel, the session catered to over 80 women-led businesses, predominantly beauty salons, offering them on-the-spot registration services facilitated by KPRA.
Under the auspices of USAID’s Economic Recovery and Development Activity (ERDA), financial and technical support is extended to women entrepreneurs, aiding them in acquiring equipment and receiving training essential for business operations. Initially, more than 80 women-operated businesses were registered with KPRA in accordance with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sales Tax on Services Act 2022, bringing them into the tax fold. Additionally, 44 businesses received grant agreements from USAID’s ERDA during the session.
KPRA teams were on hand to guide the women through the process of obtaining their National Tax Numbers (NTN) and completing their business registrations on the spot. They also provided training on the monthly sales tax payment procedures and filing monthly sales tax returns with KPRA.
Additionally, KPRA’s Director General, Miss Fouzia Iqbal, expressed gratitude to USAID for organizing the session and supporting KPRA’s efforts to expand the tax base. She emphasized the importance of compliance with the KP Sales Tax on Services Act 2022, noting that most beauty parlors in the province are now registered with KPRA, contributing to the province’s development.
In his opening remarks, USAID’s ERDA Monitoring Specialist, Inamullah Khan, welcomed participants and appreciated the attendance of KPRA officials. Moreover, he highlighted the benefits participants would derive from USAID’s program and commended KPRA for providing on-the-spot registration services.
