The two-day International Conference on Business Management and Sustainability (ICBMS) was recently held at the Institute of Business Management (IoBM).
This event’s opening day is set to be critical, attracting a varied variety of participants. including significant government officials. Moreover, specialists from famous educational institutions, and senior corporate executives from Pakistan’s largest corporations.
Mr. Younus Dagha, Minister for Revenue, Industries, and Commerce, Sindh, was the Chief Guest, and Mr. Talib S. Karim, President of IoBM, made the welcoming address.
The conference, themed “The Sustainable and Innovative Businesses in Uncertain Times: Challenges and Opportunities”. It was held on the IoBM campus, laying the groundwork for substantial conversations. Also it is the groundwork for collaboration, and the sharing of profound insights.
Dr. Shakeel Sadiq Jajja, a Fulbright Scholar from Stanford University and Associate Professor at LUMS, delivered the keynote address at the inaugural session. Mr. Iftikhar Ahmed Sheikh, President of the Karachi Chambers of Commerce, and Mr. Muhammad Azfar Ahsan attended the conference. Furthermore, President of the Marketing Association of Pakistan, were among the notable visitors.
Mr. Younus Dagha, the event’s Chief Guest, commented on the conference’s agenda, saying, “Globalization has created interaction, it has eased access to information, but it has also exposed our businesses, practices, and administration to the clients that we interact with on a B2B and G2B basis.”
He further stated, “The majority of Pakistan’s policies are harmed by inefficiency at the policy-making level. But far more so at the implementation level. As a result, our regulators must design a coordinated strategy to address this issue in a sustainable manner. Both in terms of national rules and their execution on the ground.”
Mr. Talib Karim, President of the IoBM, noted in his address, “This flagship convention aims to rigorously review scholarly papers. Addressing the constantly changing environment of business management.”
He continued by saying, “Despite the shift toward hybrid approaches, our priority remains consistent on-campus education. These events bring together academics and experts to alter company management concepts.”
The conference also featured a Corporate Panel Discussion on “Sustainable Company Models: A Paradigm Shift in Uncertain Times,” conducted by Fatima Arshad, Unilever’s Head of Sustainability and Corporate Communications. Top managers from Unity Foods, Mondelez Pakistan. Furthermore, Ismail Industries, and other companies were on the panel.
An Academic Panel Discussion on “The Role of Education and Research in Shaping Sustainable and Innovative Businesses,” conducted by Dr. Amber Raza, Head of Academics at IoBM. This was also part of the event.
During this conversation, panelists from IoBM, Stanford University, UMT participated. Moreover, LUMS, IBA, and other important institutions participated.
The International Seminar on Management of Businesses and Sustainability – 2023 demonstrates dedication of IoBM to providing a forum for meaningful conversation.
Also the seminar provided learning, and knowledge exchange in Pakistan. The program will be extended for a second day, with seminars led by notable academics and professionals.
