The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) has appointed Dr. Umar Saif to its Digital Innovation Board of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Alliance for Digital Development.
Currently serving as Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information Technology & Telecommunication, Dr. Umar Saif joins 17 other eminent individuals nominated for their innovation track record to provide strategic guidance, expertise, and advocacy for the alliance’s goals.
Established to bridge the global digital innovation divide, the alliance aims to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in digital development, creating an inclusive and equitable digital future.
Furthermore, by accelerating innovation capacity globally, the Alliance and its Digital Innovation Board engage with stakeholders at national, regional, and global levels to advance dialogue on fostering digital development.
Moreover, Dr. Cosmas Luckyson Zavazava, Director of the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT), and another Co-Chair, yet to be nominated, will lead the Digital Innovation Board, providing strategic guidance and advocacy for the alliance’s mission.
Initiated by the BDT Director, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Alliance for Digital Development focuses on building critical local enablers, developing organizational capabilities, and strengthening engagement with the private sector and academia.
Moreover, the selection committee chose eighteen distinguished individuals to serve on the Digital Innovation Board through an expression of interest and nomination process.
