The Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, Syed Aminul Haque, emphasized during the Digital Cooperation Organisation (DCO) meeting that the government of Pakistan is working towards diminishing the digital gap between the rural and urban areas. By reducing the gap the country can eventually progress towards digital quality.

According to the Federal Minister, the government has been working on several reforms to help overcome the digital gap and create a better environment for the tech-based businesses in Pakistan. He also added that the digital economy has accelerated after the global pandemic, however, the “global potential” of the pandemic still needs to be figured out.
Mr. Aminul Haque further emphasized the government’s efforts to promote digitization and spoke about the ‘Digital Pakistan’ campaign which will further help to improve the efforts of entrepreneurship and innovation in Pakistan.
“Pakistan endorses that DCO is actively pursuing its vision of achieving social prosperity and growth of the digital economy by unifying efforts to advance the digital transformation agenda and promote common interests of the member states,” he added.
The Minister also pointed out that according to the World Economic Forum, Pakistan has been ranked as one of the best countries in terms of Information and Communication Technology. Moreover, the International Labour Organisation report has declared Pakistan as the second-largest supplier of labor in technology and software development.
