What is the future of E-Commerce you see in Pakistan?
Over the past few years, the E-Commerce market has begun flourishing in Pakistan. It is a very dynamic and evolving industry, and predicting its future growth with absolute certainty is challenging. It has become a requirement to be adaptive to market changes and stay informed.
We must remember that customer needs are dynamic and can change over time. So, it’s essential to stay engaged with our customer base and be responsive to their evolving preferences and requirements.
Alongside it is important to assess the impact of sustainability initiatives and eco-friendly practices on e-commerce growth. Many consumers prefer environmentally responsible businesses.
On the other hand, Merchants are at the forefront of the e-commerce ecosystem, and their actions and strategies are central to driving the industry’s growth. By focusing on customer needs, quality, innovation, and efficient operations. Furthermore, merchants can create a positive impact on e-commerce growth and success.
Traditional retail can also play a significant role in supporting and even growing e-commerce business. By strategically integrating traditional retail with e-commerce, business can create a seamless and complementary shopping experience for their customers, leading to growth and success in both channels. This approach is especially valuable in today’s omnichannel retail landscape.
Therefore, I am of the view that this E-Commerce industry has so much potential and the growth of e-commerce in Pakistan. It will depend on the collaborative efforts of businesses, technology, and government. It is a long-term commitment to infrastructure development, education, and close coordination with business partners. We must take the confidence of all our stakeholders and share the analytic data with them for the betterment and for establishing the policies and controls for the future.
What is the future of online selling in Pakistan?
The shift towards online shopping, mobile commerce, and the adoption of digital payment methods can provide insights into the industry’s growth.
I can see a drastic improvement in supply chain and logistics, including faster and more cost-effective shipping and delivery options. This can drive e-commerce growth by reducing barriers to entry and enhancing customer satisfaction.
On the other hand, data protection trust and cyber security measures will increase consumer confidence in the growth of e-commerce online shopping.
Why do we prefer local vendors in software and ERP?
In my view, it all depends upon the nature and size of your business. For example, if we talk about a local company where you have a budget constraint and is also a middle-tier company where product or solution outcome can be compromised. Then definitely preference would be to develop or buy available applications from the market compromising the quality.
On the other hand, if it is a large-sized local or multinational company where procurement policies with proper evaluation matrix follows. Then you prefer an international software/ ERP product that is already matured in the market along with having a good implementation/ execution clientele. Software reviews themselves speak louder than words which can also be part of the evaluation method.
Keeping both scenarios, the quality we see with the international product is much better. However, there could be many reasons like they must have adopted best practices from all over the global world and based on that knowledge they have developed amazing products and solutions.
Secondly, because of the size of the international vendor and their footprint, they can easily pull in human resources as and when required.
Thirdly, I believe because of the lack of resources and talent, the timelines and commitment along with the availability of skill and knowledge are still compromised with local vendors resulting in compromise in deliverables, etc.
