Nokia and Cybernet, Pakistan’s premier fixed-line telecommunications provider, announced today the deployment of the country’s first DWDM network operating at 600Gbps per wavelength.

The DWDM network enables Cybernet to provide a high-capacity, robust network. That meets even the most stringent customer needs. This new optical network connects Cybernet’s key metro sites. Furthermore, it also provides the increased capacity required to satisfy Pakistan’s expanding consumers. And to satisfy the enterprise demand for fast, high-quality broadband services.

Cybernet provides its global peering community members with its advanced IXP platform powered by Nokia 7750 SR and 7250 IXR routers. By further strengthening its global footprint with the establishment of global points of presence (POPs) in MC-1 in Barka (Oman), MRS-2 in Marseille (France), SmartHub in Fujairah (UAE), and SG1 in Singapore.

This platform ensures that there is enough connection capacity to address future requirements as well as present ones. At its worldwide POPs, Cybernet provides Internet, EVPN, and MPLS-based services with high Quality of Service (QoS).

Operators are looking to enhance their optical networks to fulfill the increasing need for high-speed internet access and network speeds. Cybernet worked with Nokia to construct a future-proof optical network capable of delivering over 600Gbps per lambda. To ensure its clients can access its high-speed services.

This increases the capacity and speed of its network, which is utilized to connect the country’s major urban areas. Cybernet can effectively grow its overall network capacity to 28 Tbs by leveraging Nokia’s PSS 1830 optical transport platform. In addition, it services broadband and commercial clients across Pakistan.

Nokia’s innovative integrated ROADM system based on flexgrid technology was successfully implemented by Cybernet. Cybernet will be able to better optimize and increase the reach of its fiber network as a result of this implementation.

“Using Nokia’s breakthrough in-house PSE-Vs processor with super-coherent optical engines enables us to seamlessly connect our major sites while also allowing us to expand our capacity efficiently and cost-effectively,” said Maroof Ali Shahani, Cybernet’s Chief Operating Officer.

He further said, “We can meet our clients’ increasing need for the greatest connection services. Also allowing them to profit from the newest optical technology breakthroughs thanks to our cooperation with Nokia.”

“Having a high-speed internet network that allows its powerful IXP platform to be delivered. Using Nokia routers allows Cybernet to maintain pace with today’s fast-paced technological landscape,” stated Manuel Ortiz Fernandez, Vice President of Nokia’s EMEA Webscale business.

Further, he stated, “We are thrilled to be able to help establish Pakistan’s first 600G fiber network. It will boost Cybernet’s ability to move data, lower latency, improve network stability, and generate significant cost savings.”
