With an influx of vaccines received from abroad and that developed locally as well (Read here about homemade “PakVac” Vaccine“), Pakistan’s COVID-19 vaccination drive is in full swing! So far Pakistan has approved five COVID-19 vaccines: Sinopharm, Cansino, Sinovac, Sputnik, and AstraZeneca. There is an influx of vaccine doses pouring into the country on a regular basis.
It may come as a surprise to most of us residing in Pakistan that drive-throughs are no longer restricted to serving fast food in Pakistan only. With assistance from the Bank of Punjab, Lahore witnessed its first drive-through vaccination center at Nishter Park Sports Complex. The inauguration of the ceremony was carried out by Mr. Zafar Masud, President and CEO Bank of Punjab, and Mr. Muddassir Riaz Malik, DC Lahore.
The DC Lahore while addressing the ceremony held said,
“The opening of this facility will help District Government Lahore in achieving the target of getting 7 to 8M population of the city vaccinated in 6 months. This is eventually going to help us in reopening of Lahore and economy as well. I’m grateful to The Bank of Punjab for their swift response and making this vaccination center operational in record three days. We’re going to make more such centers in different areas of the city for facilitation of general public.”
The drive-through facility will be operable from 8 PM to 2 AM on weekdays and 5 pm to 2 am on weekdays. During the 15 minute process, the person will have himself registered, and their vitals will be checked. Once they have received the vaccine the person will be required to wait in the parking for another 15 minutes.
