In an attempt to protect companies from cyber attacks, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has recently issued the draft of “Cloud Adoption Guidelines”. The issued guidelines will allow all incorporated companies to protect their data from leakages and prevent cybercrimes on their online platforms.

The SECP guidelines are based on the National Cybersecurity Policy 2021 issued by the Ministry of IT & Telecommunication and on the Pakistan Cloud-First Policy (PCFP) 2021. They are simple to apply and provide a fast and efficient way to transition to cloud computing. Companies will be in a better position to understand the pros and cons that come with cloud computing solutions as well. Moreover, SECP has also allowed feedback on the guidelines before the 13th of this month.
SECP has further briefed companies on the importance of cyber-security. The authority also stressed the fact that privacy breaches could lead to serious financial losses, and could be a threat to sensitive customer information.
