1. What inspired you to transition from telecom to digital financial services?
When my employer needed someone to establish digital financial services, I jumped at the chance. It was a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in a field that was still evolving in Pakistan. I saw the potential for technology to bridge gaps in access to financial services, especially in a country where many people lack basic banking facilities. The idea of creating innovative solutions that could empower individuals to manage their finances more effectively was incredibly appealing. I believe that financial services should be inclusive and accessible to everyone, and I was excited to leverage my skills to create solutions that could truly benefit people’s lives. This passion for innovation and social impact continues to drive Zindigi today.
2. How does Zindigi aim to empower the unbanked population in Pakistan?
Our vision is to provide simple and impactful finances, beyond borders. In a country where 85% of the population is unbanked, Zindigi opens up a world that was previously out of bounds. We offer a range of services, including money transfers, bill payments, and instant loans, all designed to empower individuals and facilitate financial inclusion. By making banking accessible through a digital platform, we aim to transform the way people manage their finances and ultimately improve their quality of life. We also focus on educating users about financial literacy, ensuring they not only have access but also the knowledge to use these services effectively. Our goal is to create a robust ecosystem that fosters economic growth and stability for all segments of society.
3. What challenges does Zindigi address for travelers during Hajj and Umrah?
Traveling for Hajj or Umrah can be daunting, especially when it comes to managing money. We’ve linked our banking services to the pilgrimage experience by providing a Zindigi card upon application for Hajj or Umrah. This allows travelers to load money and use it seamlessly in Saudi Arabia, eliminating the need to deal with currency conversion and ensuring a smoother experience. This initiative not only simplifies financial transactions for pilgrims but also alleviates the stress associated with handling cash abroad. We understand the emotional significance of this journey, and we aim to make it as hassle-free as possible, allowing individuals to focus on their spiritual experience rather than financial worries.
