AI Chatbots Increase Worker Productivity by 14%, New Research

With more and more industries utilising modern tools like chatbots, the world of AI has exploded in the tech industry and beyond. While some people may be initially hesitant to use these services, the most recent study by MIT and Standford is showing why you shouldn’t be hesitant to introduce the project into your workforce.

Bloomberg’s recent publication discusses the first significant real-world deployment of generative AI at the workplace. Numerous researchers participated in the study and measured the output of close to 5,000 customer service professionals.

The majority of these agents were employed by the top Fortune 500 enterprise software company. And they were headquartered in countries like the Philippines. The trial lasted for a full calendar year.

Tech support personnel reportedly utilized AI tools to create efficient conversational scripts and conversations. The number of problems that were resolved every hour served as the benchmark for this. And it was estimated to be 14% on average. However, the improvement was more noticeable for less experienced and less skilled workers. In the end, the latter completed their assignment about 35% more quickly than the others.

A few circumstances show that using AI was preferable to having real-world work experience. In other words, over the course of six months, those receiving AI support performed better than agents working without it.

On the other hand, these AI tools ultimately had little impact on skilled, seasoned personnel. There were also times when it turned out to be a major diversion.

The authors began by outlining how this type of research is not intended to forecast whether AI can or will replace a company’s employees. However, it is possible to draw the conclusion that technology helps workers multitask more skillfully. And it deals with more complicated problems more quickly.

And as we are all well aware, clients are sure to be pleased with better results that come about more quickly than normal. Additionally, they increase employee retention rates by being incredibly kind to customer service agents.

Remember, the authors also quoted how such endeavors like AI tools end up making individuals more effective at the workplace, and that makes the general environment a more pleasurable and stress-free place to carry out duties.
