Stripe, a leading financial infrastructure platform, has announced an expansion of its partnership with NVIDIA. This collaboration will advance AI technology, benefiting Stripe’s customers and enhancing fraud detection. Additionally, it will widen global access to NVIDIA’s cutting-edge GPUs and AI software, allowing developers and enterprises to prepay for selected NVIDIA cloud services directly through Stripe.
Patrick Collison, Stripe’s co-founder and CEO, expressed excitement about the deepening partnership. “NVIDIA is one of the companies we admire the most for its innovation, long-term vision, and agility. We’re excited to strengthen our long-standing relationship,” Collison remarked. He also noted that the rapid pace of technological advancement presents a unique opportunity to democratize access to AI technology.
Jensen Huang, NVIDIA’s founder and CEO, echoed Collison’s enthusiasm. He emphasized the swift progress of AI and its growing integration into business operations worldwide. “Stripe was an early adopter of NVIDIA’s AI platform and has become a leader in enabling businesses globally to harness AI for growth,” Huang added.
Accelerating Stripe’s AI Capabilities
Stripe, processing over a trillion dollars annually, has long used NVIDIA’s computing platform to train its machine learning models. With the support of NVIDIA’s AI tools, Stripe continues to develop products like the Optimized Checkout Suite. Companies such as OpenAI, Slack, and River Island leverage this suite to optimize their checkout processes with AI-powered suggestions. Through machine learning, Stripe tailors payment options to each customer, boosting conversion rates and enhancing user experience.
Stripe’s fraud detection system, Radar, also benefits from NVIDIA’s AI platform. Earlier this year, Stripe introduced Radar Assistant, an AI-driven tool that allows businesses to create fraud rules using natural language prompts. In addition, developers can now build and iterate faster on Stripe’s Railyard platform, thanks to NVIDIA Tensor Core GPUs.
Supporting AI-Driven Businesses
Stripe’s tools have become essential for companies that rely heavily on AI. "We’ve been building functionality specifically designed for AI products," said Collison. This includes usage-based billing to manage inference costs, Link for higher-converting checkouts, and support for a wide range of local payment methods, given that many AI products start with a global reach. Stripe Billing has seen rapid adoption among AI companies, highlighting the synergy between AI innovation and Stripe’s robust payment platform.
A Vision for the Future
This expanded partnership was also a focal point at Stripe Sessions 2024, the company’s annual user conference. Collison and Huang engaged in a fireside chat, discussing the leadership challenges of high-growth organizations and AI’s transformative potential. Huang referred to this moment as a "new industrial revolution," with AI at its core.
Together, Stripe and NVIDIA are accelerating AI adoption across industries, driving improvements in fraud detection, enterprise innovation, and beyond. Their collaboration promises to unlock new growth opportunities for businesses worldwide.
