Apple will soon join the growing group of tech firms integrating generative AI technologies into their product offerings. The most recent Bloomberg report claims that Cupertino is working on several generative AI-related capabilities for iPhones, Macs, and other different services.

According to the source, three senior vice presidents—John Giannandrea, Craig Federighi, and Eddy Cue—are leading the development of Apple’s large language model (LLM), a generative AI system that has been in development for some time under the name Apple GPT.

In a post on X Mark Gurman said, “Apple intensifies generative AI development with a goal of integrating the technology into a number of goods and services. Redesigned Siri and LLM features are being developed for Messages, Pages, Keynote, Apple Music, Xcode, and more applications.”

The business is rumored to be working on generative AI capabilities to supercharge Siri. Which might launch as early as next year. Additionally, various generative AI features are anticipated for the iPhone OS’s upcoming release, iOS 18. In addition, the company is looking on integrating AI into its Xcode developer’s software.

Similar to what Spotify offers, other first-party apps like Apple Music might potentially get AI features. Such as automatically created playlists. Even programs like Pages and Keynote are reportedly getting a significant AI upgrade.

Apple is also thinking about how to use generative AI, such as by offering a full on-device experience, a cloud-based configuration, or a combination of the two. The company should be able to provide more sophisticated AI experiences with a cloud-based solution, even while on-device AI may aid with customer privacy.

Apple has a long way to go before major tech companies like Google, Microsoft. And even Amazon start selling generative AI services to consumers.

Apple is embracing generative AI, with key executives leading the charge. The large language model, Apple GPT, will enhance Siri, Messages, Pages, Keynote, Apple Music, and more. iOS 18 will introduce generative AI features. While even first-party apps like Apple Music will benefit from AI-driven improvements.

The company is considering both on-device and cloud-based AI options to balance sophistication and privacy. However, it still trails behind tech giants like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon in offering generative AI services to consumers.
